Felicitations, venerate readers. It beith Greg. This post is a spookful compilation of 10 shows you oughta be sussing-out this October. Hopefully you'll be able to attend productions of these by 2021. Maybe you'll even be a participant. Incidentally, I hope you have a miraculously meritable All Hallow's Eve.
Beetlejuice: The Musical, The Musical, The Musical
I've yearned for a Beetlejuice musical. I deem it an expectations exceeder. It's a veritable reincarnation of the '88 film. I've a soft spot 'cause a Michael Wormwood headlined. It retains Harry Belafonte songs and contains a lotta Danny Elfman-esque musical numbers. When the unleashing of rights occurs, I reckon it'll obtain October productions. It is a blast to spectate or partake in. It could be beneficial if you're mourning or combating depression, too.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (A Musical Thriller)
This show's a compound of dramatics, tragic storytelling and grim comedics. 'Twas a musical rarity in '79. The libretto's a canny retribution story and its score's thorough radiance. It might gratify slasher fans. It's turbulence might captivate crowds or proffer ample, strenuous material to cast members.
Gaslight (a.k.a. Angel Street)
This play possesses the trimmings of a consummate thriller. It certainly exercises a cast's luctuosa abilities. Its leading lady has dignified poignance. Gaslight's trailblazing for inserting a toxically masculine leading man. The play's tonally pertinent for an Autumn evening. A fellow associated with Horror strode this show's boards. The conclusion's so heartening.
Macbeth (a.k.a. The Scottish Play)
Disclaimer: I shan't be indulging in superstition
The bard concocted a divinely dour story. Despite materializing centuries prior, the show maintains relevance for audiences. There is a multitude of methods to mount it. The Macbeths qualify as sumptuous roles. Ghosts and a trio of weird sister witches pertain to the piece. It's taxingly fulfilling to naturally utter Shakespearean language too.
Little Shop of Horrors
This ubiquitous musical's a stupefying reinterpretation of a B-movie. The swagalicious puppetry opportunities, adorkable leads, soulful Greek Chorus, Yiddish shtick and fearsome monsters totally qualify as aspects of remarkability. The score's coruscating. It's uproariously enthralling for the company/crowds. The ending's uncustomary, too.
Dial M for Murder
Undoubtedly, this play's the bomb. Frederick Knott's so adept at suspensefully investing audiences. There is a police inspector character of merit. It has one heckuva love triangle. Interestingly, the "murderer" is a mere lowlife puppet to a reprehensible antagonist. The ending is so satisfying, too.
The Rocky Horror Show
This slot's musical is a monumentally staggering cult classic. Rocky Horror's been imminent theatre. You're permitted to interact with the onstage actions. It is a joyously uproarious hoot time-warping in the theatre and dressing-up. Amusingly, there are instances of having kooky props on standby. Normally, it's absolutely pleasureful being a Rocky Horror cast member. On a typical basis, the showings are glorious safespaces for righteous individuals.
The Wizard of Oz (RSC)
This show's steadfast to the '39 film. Consequently, there's caliber material that didn't pop-up in the motion-picture. A predominant character is a charismatical scarecrow. This musical definitely lends itself to a conglomerate of effects. Its antagonist is an aberrant witch. The RSC's Wizard of Oz is rewardingly arduous for a cast member (Greg guarantees). It'll accumulate colossal audiences.
Blithe Spirit
This slot's show is Noel's rapidly written, ghostly comedy of manners. It's three acts of fabulousness. Its creativity is immensely enormous. The dialogue's radiance. It has a quintessentially-Cowardish ending. intriguingly, there is only 1 setting. Madame Arcati allows a character actress to prosper.
Arsenic and Old Lace
The gothically comical premise is peerlessly executed. Its scenarios are proficient. Aspects are moderately biographical. It has instances of joshing character interactions. There is immortalization of a horror thespian, a savvy straightguy, satirization of a political figure, a duo of untraditional murderers and an Igorish subordinate.
By the way: this is dedicated to my majorly magnificent birthday bud.
