July's post is a compilation of sublime short stories that could be transmuted into stupendous animated short films. Incidentally, I hereby dedicate this to my staggering 1st/4th grade teacher and a few high-school teachers.

The Miss Nelson Trilogy

The trio of books could be reinterpreted as an animated mini-series consisting of 3 short films. It's probable that audiences could be coaxed into sussing-out the initial source-material. There could be demonstrations of the Room 207 student's rambunctiousness and the Smedley Tornado's apathy. The illustrations could lend themselves to a cartoon format. You could enact moments mentioned in passing. There could be rib-tickling visual gags. You could put emphasis on the kids being the straight people to the adults. You could demonstrate The Swamp's methods in a montage. 1 gal could be providing 2 significant voice characterizations, too.

The Teeny-Tiny Woman

This story ought to be molded into a short families could be viewing around October. It's public-domain, so the story's easily adaptable. It hasn't yet accumulated a professional adaption (John R. Dilworth could direct). You'd follow a day in the life of an endearing character. The animation could be highlighting the teeny-tininess of the nouns mentioned in the story. There could be a balance of spooky ambience and humor. Enhanced gravitas could enhance the climax.

An Old Story

An animated adaptation of this story could air as a primetime Halloween special. The viewership would be in for a colossal scaring. There could be an R.L. Stine-penned teleplay. Curly and Drool could provide an introduction/post-denouement closing. The short would comprise of events initially recounted by Tom. Aspects of the text are achievable in animation. The short would allegorically tackle a topical subject. The animation could resemble an assortment of Goosebumps artwork.

The Tell Tale Heart

You're able to achieve an ominous story in animation. The characters can be designed in a non-cartoony manner. There can be foreboding backgrounds. The short should incorporate the pre-story events. There could be detailed showcasing of the narrators' actions. Incidentally, this wouldn't be the 1st occasion Edgar Allan Poe's material materialized in animation.

The Stranger

This be the 1st of 3 Chris Van Allsburg books. He could be recruited for story contributions. Van Allsburg's creations have been animated before. You could illustrate The Stranger's emotions through animation. There'd be atmospheric seasonal backdrops. Screen time should be dedicated to his interactions with the Bailey family. The short could retain the subdued hints by incorporating them into the script/animation.

The Wretched Stone

An animated short is a viable gateway to conveying a message. The book's entries could be recounted in flashbacks. They'd be established through a voice-over of Captain Randall Ethan Hope. Each entry would be enacted as a vignette with a beginning onscreen date-caption. Elements of said story could be plausible in an animated property.

The Widow's Broom

Sepia animation would be mood-setting A sentient broom can be accomplished in animation. Minna Shaw could provide a voice-over at the beginning using Van Allsburg's text. You'd be able to accurately fit the story's contents into a short film running-time. There are scenes that'd be so enthralling in an animated short.

Lamb to the Slaughter

This short could be animated in a tonally-accurate black-and-white. You might be able to have a story-establishing intro. The short could toddle the balanced edge of droll and morbid. You can enact the clubbing via its silhouette. There'd be ways of unfolding the story in detail. The Mahoneys could resemble folks you'd potentially encounter. There could be shining moments for the remainder of the characters. You could conclude the short with a freeze-frame cel of Mary laughing eerily, too.

The Veldt

This short could be reminiscent of 1993's The Halloween Tree. George and Lydia's futuristic house is accomplishable within animated realms. You could illustrate The Veldt's heinousness. Subtle foreshadows would be integrated into the animation and audio-track. You could have cuts to imply offsceen events and a bleak fade-to-black denouement with Dr. David McLean/the kids.

On the Sidewalk Bleeding

The short's beginning could comprise of Andy with Laura at the dance. During opening titles, Andy would be departing the dance's location. You could enact the scene of the Guardians member stabbing him. The short would be thematically gut-wrenching and provoke thoughts. You'd be able to use internal-monologue. Andy and Laura ought to be characterized as being Black. This would allow the short to lampoon the bystanders/cops who aren't empathetic when Black people are murdered by whites. The short could receive festival showings and be studied by high schoolers, too.
