I'm a monumental Scooby-Doo fan. Some of the Scooby-Doo projects definitely classify as favored animation. They're in a vein reminiscent of the DCAU. When I initially heard about Scoob!, I found its prospects pleasing.

Alas, my balloon of joyousness rapidly began to pop. I glimpsed the voice-cast. The glimpsing wasn't necessarily giddy. The only Hanna-Barbera casting-choices I regarded as captivating were the A Pup Named Scooby-Doo-esque meddling kids, Kiersey Clemmons as Dee Dee Sykes, Billy West as Muttley, Jason Issacs as Dick Dastardly, Frank Welker as (only) Scooby and Don Messick's posthumous tracks.

I wasn't fussed with the remainder of the Hanna-Barbera casting. They're historical repeats of the Janet Waldo scenario of 1990. When I complimented Andrea Romano and Gordon Hunt in May's post, I shaded Scoob!

I would have recruited Troy Baker and Maurice LaMarche for Blue Falcon and Captain Caveman. I'd have kept Kate Miccuci and Grey DeLisle's Velma Dinkley and Daphne Blake. I would've retained Matthew LiIllard's Shaggy. Lastly, I'd undoubtedly let Frank Welker be Fred Jones/Dynomutt (this ain't the first occasion Frank's been demoted or received role rebuffing).

I'm not an isolated casting questioner. There's a plethora of disheartened fans. I'll recount on why I find the casting questionable. However, I'll proclaim clarifications.

I've nary any resentment towards the Scoob! cast-members. I'm copacetic with viable character reinterpretations. Troy and Mo were H-B character successors. Heather North Kenney, Scott Innes, Billy West, Mary Kay Bergman, B.J. Ward and Mindy Cohn snagged the GSOA as Mystery Inc. gang members. I've no adverseness to folks with ubiquity voicing animated characters (if the Andrea Romano casting philosophy is applied). I'm a fan of Keye Luke/Hal Smith on Scooby-doo Where Are You!, Vincent Price on The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, Glynis Johns/Ruta Lee in Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School, Adrienne Barbeau/Mark Hamill in Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island and Tim Curry/Jane Wiedlin in Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost. I only find the Scoob! casting peculiar.

It's no pic-a-nic succeeding Gary Owens or Mel Blanc, but Troy and Mo obtained success. Kate's been Velma for nearly 1/2 a decade. Grey's Daphne is in a heaping cluster of projects. Whether he be near a mic or camera, Matt's Shaggy is exemplary. Frank's donated 1/2 a century to the franchise. His Fred's evolved magnificently. Since '02, he voices Scooby. Frank can efficiently voice Dynomutt, too.

The Scoob! casting isn't financially sensible. The film would've saved a whopping amount of moolah. My ideal Hanna-Barbera casting could have been less pricey. Frank could've voiced 3 characters for 1 price. My others might have had cheaper salaries than the alternatives. Consequently, they might've secured more substantial pay checks than the typical TV-show or direct-to-video film.

My ideal cast-members accumulated mainstream credits. Troy's in The Last of Us. Mo partook in Ed Wood. Kate's on Big Bang Theory. Grey's Arcee in Bumblebee. Matt's synonymous with Scream. Frank's Stripe in Gremlins. Recruiting 'name' people is ludicrously reductive.

I'm saddened by the snubbing of qualified people. The Scoob! casting contains ageism. Casey Kasem (Shaggy) and Don Messick (Scooby) retained their corresponding roles 'til retirement. This ought to apply to Frank and the remainder of the gang. If Pat Musick, Sue Blu and Russi Taylor's Grimwood Ghouls in 2018, the Mystery Inc. gang should inhabit roles they inhabited in 2019. Troy and Mo should've garnered employment, too.
